Delta Development actively adopts the CO₂-Performanceladder
"Mainly with solar panels and replacing some of the cars in our fleet, we aim to achieve a 32% CO₂ reduction by the end of 2027 compared to 2022."
Delta Development believes that we humans and the planet should not pay the high price for the mainstream, traditional commercial way of property development. More than 20 years ago, we embraced circular principles and have been creating beautiful, functional, circular and sustainable office and residential space and logistics ever since. We operate in the Netherlands and Germany from our offices in Hoofddorp and Düsseldorf.
Coert Zachariasse:
"We noticed during our initial audit for the performance ladder that we are already quite far along with our measures and behaviour. This is of course due to our early implementation of the circular Cradle-to-Cradle method. Nevertheless, we are convinced that this sustainability tool is going to help us become even more aware and further reduce our consumption."
Delta aims to be a climate-neutral organisation by 2030. It is therefore logical that we use the CO₂ performance ladder to evaluate and plan our further reductions. Our reference year is 2022. In that year, we had emissions of 54 tonnes of CO₂ in scope 1 and 2 plus business travel. About a third of these emissions come from the electricity consumption of our offices while another 30% comes from electricity consumption on behalf of our vehicle fleet.
This is how we aim to reduce our consumption
We want to work towards carbon neutral by 2030 in the following steps:
2023
2024
2025
2026
2027
0%
8%
16%
24%
32%
Making our fleet more sustainable
Further reduce electricity consumption property
Electricity consumption at our headquarters in Hoofddorp is relatively high because that building is gasless. The office has energy label A+. Solar panels have already been installed there. On consumption in Germany, we have little influence, as already mentioned. The office there has (according to a different, German assessment method, energy label B or C). By commissioning the solar panels, we can reduce consumption in Amsterdam to 0%, which will reduce total electricity consumption by 79%, saving 52% on total CO₂ emissions.
In both offices, we are investigating whether we can improve the energy label.
Intention
We have deliberately set ambitious reduction targets but also targets that are achievable in this first phase. We currently see ourselves as middle/sub-top performer but the aim is, of course, to climb to the group of companies at the top in terms of reduction targets and reduction results.
